La Disney ha ufficializzato l’arrivo a Broadway del musical "Aladdin". Lo show inizierà le preview al New Amsterdam Theatre il 26 febbraio 2014, per giungere alla opening night il 20 marzo. Il musical debutterà in precedenza, l’1 novembre, al Mirvish Theatre di Toronto. "Aladdin" si avvale delle musiche di Alan Menken, liriche dal the film di Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, con un nuovo libretto e nuove liriche di Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer, Elf). Nello show saranno anche introdotti tre nuovi personaggi, non presenti nel film (Omar, Babkak e Kassim) ed alcune nuove canzoni. Lo spettacolo sarà diretto da Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon). Il team creativo sarà formato da Bob Crowley (Once, Tarzan) per le scene, Gregg Barnes (Kinky Boots, The Drowsy Chaperone), lighting designer Natasha Katz (Beauty and the Beast, Aida), dance arranger Glen Kelly (The Producers, Drowsy Chaperone), musical supervisor Michael Kosarin (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act), sound designer Ken Travis (Memphis, Newsies, A Christmas Story), illusion designer Jim Steinmeyer (Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast), hair designer Josh Marquette (Kinky Boots, The Book of Mormon) e orchestratore Danny Troob (Newsies, Cinderella).
