E’ fissata per il 13 giugno 2013 l’opening night della più ambiziosa – e costosa – produzione australiana di un musical. Al Regent Theatre di Melbourne è annunciato infatti "King Kong the musical". Lo show si avvarrà delle musiche di Marius De Vries (Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge) che affiancherà a canzoni composte appositamente anche brani già famosi come "Get Happy", "I Wanna Be Loved By You" e "Brother Can You Spare a Dime", a brani di artisti contemporanei come Robert Del Naja dei Massive Attack, Sarah McLachlan, Justice, Guy Garvey degli Elbow e The Avalanches.
